Michael Osteen practices primarily in the areas of commercial
litigation, estate and trust law, and estate planning. Mr. Osteen is
a magna cum laude graduate of the University of San Diego School of
Law where he was an executive editor of the San Diego Law Review. He
is admitted to practice in all courts of the states of Virginia,
Pennsylvania, California and South Carolina. He is also admitted to
practice before the United States District Court in all districts of
Virginia and California and before the United States Court of
Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Ninth Circuit. He has been
published in the San Diego Law Review and American Law Reports.
Mr. Osteen received his undergraduate degree from Anderson
University and advanced degrees from the University of Southern
California including a Master of Arts in International Relations and
a Master of Science in Systems Management. Prior to entering the
legal profession he was an officer in the United States Navy serving
at sea in cruisers and destroyers and ashore as Executive Officer of
Naval Station San Diego, on the staff of the Pacific Fleet
Amphibious Force Commander, and in the Plans and Policy Division of
the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. After graduation from
law school in 1991, Mr. Osteen practiced in San Diego with the law
firm of Schall, Boudreau & Gore until 1995 when he relocated to
Greenville, South Carolina, where he was a sole practitioner for
three years. He returned to his home state of Virginia and joined
Bourdow, Bowen & Ellis, P.C. in 1999.
